Hospital Policy

Your pet is not only a constant companion, one who will love you unconditionally, but is ALSO a member of your family. When your pet needs medical attention, it costs money: we realize that money can be tight, especially with today’s economy. If you feel the need to check other hospitals for their prices we encourage you to get three estimates from three different clinics for the same medical procedure. However, when you call and get a quote, make sure to find out what is included in that price.

For example, when you call to book a surgery with us at Complete Care Hospital for Pets, you can be confident that your pet will receive:

  • a pre-surgical physical exam to ensure proper health prior to anesthesia
  • an anesthetic plan tailored to your individual pet’s needs. Blood work can be performed prior to surgery and will provide vital information about your pet’s organ function that is invaluable when developing this anesthetic plan.
  • an IV catheter and fluids
  • cardiac, respiratory and blood pressure monitoring
  • thermal support with a circulating warm air blanket
  • adequate pain control during surgery, during recovery and at home (depending on the type of surgery)
  • other medications if needed (e.g. antibiotics)
  • discharge sheet with specific instructions pertaining to the at-home care of your pet
  • a phone call 1-2 days following surgery to check on the healing of your pet
  • bandage removal and drain removal, if necessary for aftercare
  • a complimentary medical progress follow up exam and stitch removal 10-14 days after surgery (depending on the type of surgery) to ensure that your pet has completely healed

Note: Every effort is made to provide you with an accurate estimate. However, sometimes unforeseen conditions can arise which can alter the final invoice. Payment is due at the time of service and we gladly accept cash, debit, PayPal, Interact e-transfers, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

At Complete Care Hospital for Pets, our hospital fees closely parallel those suggested by the Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association. We understand that it can be stressful when your pet is ill and needs medical attention. It is our duty to make you feel at ease and ensure that your needs and those of your pet are thoroughly and professionally met. We will strive to educate you on your pet's health so that you can make the best decision for your pet.

Your pet is important to us because not only do we value the strength of the bond you have with your companion, but we also understand what the love of a pet means. We are committed to providing the highest standard of care for your pet.

If you would like an estimate prepared for you or if you have questions, please do not hesitate to call and speak to one of our friendly staff at (902) 281-CARE (2273).
